Blackberry is a magenta-purple ink, leaning more red on some papers (Yu Sari, Midori, Rhodia) and more violet on papers such as Tomoe River, Iroful and Cosmo. Although this is not a sheening ink, a hint of bronze sheen may appear in heavy swatches.
Although no hazardous materials are used in the production of these inks, they should not be consumed. Keep inks out of the reach of children.
Those of you who are familiar with Western Washington know that blackberry bushes are everywhere. The invasive Himalayan vines thrive in our forests, line the roads and highways, and are a constant threat to creep into our yards. We also have a diminutive native species, though, that ripens in early July and is excellent for pies and pancakes. Both species have wonderful berries.

Blackberry is a beautifully shading ink that exactly matches its name. Startup flow is excellent, even if I don’t use that pen for weeks. Very happy with this ink.

I love the Wet Pen reviews so I ordered a few inks to support this. I knew I would love his Elliot Bay as it is a lovely blue, but I rarely met a blue I didn’t like. This Blackberry ink though was a very pleasant surprise. It is another very smooth ink. I love using it on any good Japanese paper, but especially ones that were a bit beige or creamy. I think I am ready to fall into what Japanese call “ink numa” (ink swamp)… or at least to check out more of the Wet Pen’s wonderful homemade ink. It looks fantastic coming out of a vintage Pelikan with green stripes or an aluminum or titanium pen or classic black fountain pen. And this is another pen at a great price in his wonderful box and bottle. Not to be missed.
